Guild Advisor & Phil

Recorded in: Nad's Journal,News Journal — Nadnerb @ 3:00 pm Cavern Time

Another KI mail went out today:

By a unanimous vote, the DRC have decided to appoint Reteltee as their “Guild Advisor”. The DRC began working with Reteltee last month when he asked to speak with the DRC at length about the Guilds. When asked why they selected Reteltee out of all the explorers, Cate replied, “He was simply in the right place at the right time. We had already begun work in Kirel to make it the ‘Guild Hood’, and his request to talk to us about the Guilds at the moment was a perfect fit. Once it was eplained to be what his name means, “The Guilds”, it was obvious that we had found the right person to talk to.” We are happy to continue working wiht him. If you see him, please offer him your congratulations.

I’m not entirely sure what to make of this, as it sounds to me like they arbitrarily chose someone to .. what? I sure hope they told him some stuff that we don’t know.

Also, there was another KImail posted today about Phil’s return, which provides a small amount of backstory for those who haven’t done their history research, participated in prologue, or divined his role from references in CC:

The DRC are thrilled to report that Phil “phend” Henderson has returned safely to the Cavern! He was involved i a major structural collapse a little over three years ago. When his destroyed KI as discovered in the rubble, we feared the worst, and when it was confirmed that he did not have his Relto Book with him at the time of the collapse, those fears seemed to have been confirmed.

We are very happy to have Phil back with us once again.

I probably have better things to do than comment on the DRC’s grammar, but it should read ‘The DRC is‘, not ‘The DRC are‘. :P

Phil Henderson Returns

Recorded in: Izy's Journal,News Journal — Isyldar @ 2:33 pm Cavern Time

Phil Henderson is back! I was reading The Cavern Today, and came across this chatlog between Phil (now phend), and Douglas Sharper. I suggest reading the chatlog. There are some goings on that put a little more fear into this war amongst the Bahro than we’ve been given up to this point.

A few notes, though:

  • The Bahro that are warring have been released by us. The good, and the bad. Now that they have their freedom, they are making their own choices: Some, evil. Some, good.
  • Those that are good have chosen to protect the Explorers.
  • The wars are going on everywhere. Even in Releeshan, phend tell us. (This has some interesting implications in and of itself.
  • The sky turns dark… (that many Bahro!?!?!?)

Serious food for thought… Anyone up for some games in Jalak?

Sharper not leaving

Recorded in: Nad's Journal,News Journal — Nadnerb @ 9:32 pm Cavern Time

This was a rather short note, but it seemed worthy of notice:

From the relay of Douglas Sharper’s Visit to the Sanctuary today:

I am not going to Noloben.

The war will make its way here. It is coming.

I suggest you all be ready.

Good day.

Jalak Released

Recorded in: Nad's Journal,News Journal — Nadnerb @ 4:37 pm Cavern Time

Cate dropped in this morning and left us the Jalak book. :)

Since the event was rather short, and I only got the relay, I won’t bother making a chatlog out of it. However, what she said was almost exactly the content of a KI mail posted a short time later:

Jalak is released

The DRC is happy to announce the release of Jalak. The age is very different than anything we have released up to this point. We hope that you enjoy its casual atmosphere and very open fell. How you choose to enjoy it is mostly up to you.

Robert, melodi, rivendell, and I visited Jalak and had a bit of fun with it. Came up with a couple neat games. Perhaps some rules can be posted later. :)

Q and A with Marie Sutherland

Recorded in: Nad's Journal,News Journal — Nadnerb @ 12:08 am Cavern Time

Later in the day, Marie Sutherland showed up to answer a few questions. While she gave the usual noncommittal answers to the standard questions like: “when will Jalak be released” and “Where is Engberg”, there was some particularly interesting info dropped about Phil. (If you don’t remember or weren’t around, Phil was presumed dead by the DRC after he fell off the guild hall at the end of prologue.) “we had every reason to believe Phil is gone. With recent events, I’m not quite as certain.”

In other news, a new Relto page was enabled, but so far, the combined efforts of the community have not uncovered the August sparklie. :?

Sharper going back to Noloben

Recorded in: Nad's Journal,News Journal — Nadnerb @ 9:36 pm Cavern Time

Bahro continued to appear in random areas across the cavern today. Sharper turned up in the Sanctuary again to tell us that the actions of the Bahro have affected him and that he is going to go back to Noloben and join the cause of the “good” Bahro, “even if it means giving his life”.

While the meeting in the Sanctuary was what Robert would call “uncivilized”, with Sharper essentially storming out pretty quickly, saying he didn’t have the energy to argue with those who insisted upon calling him “murderer”, the chat in the Great Tree’s Bevin, which was made private immediately after he arrived, was quite informative.

I have arranged a set of quotes which I think will summarize the situation:

there are good Bahro – of course.

They are watching. Learning. Even as I did, I would assume.

Trying to understand what our role is. I’m sure I played a part in that, if I’m to be honest.

This is a war. If the evil Bahro win, we will all die. It’s as simple as that.

There are obviously two sides.

I don’t know what lies at the root of their battles.

But there is something deep.

I owe them.

Carry on as normal. Visit other Ages. Let them see you in your normal states – not flockign to them like some kind of caged animal.

They are not here to be your pets.

To pose for photos.

Unless the good ones protect us.

Which they often do.

That is our only hope.

One interesting point I noticed:

How did you manage to communicate? Verbally or otherwise?

Body language. Basic stuff. Primal. I don’t speak their language and they don’t speak mine.

Some explorers have noticed the Bahro will interact with some explorers, copying gestures and emotes.

“Increased Bahro”

Recorded in: Nad's Journal,News Journal — Nadnerb @ 3:38 pm Cavern Time

Though I have yet to see one in person, there have been reports of even more Bahro in the city, Kirel, the Sanctuary and Bevins. So many, it seems, that the DRC have sent out yet another KImail.

Increased Bahro Sightings

The DRC is aware that the number of Bahro sightings in the Cavern and Ages has gone up dramatically ever since the two appeared in the Watcher’s Sanctuary yesterday.

Again, we do not want to cause any undue panic, as they have not harmed anyone, but we would like to remind the explorers that very little is really understood about these creatures. Do not take any unnecessary chances if you see one. Please keep your distance from them and take care not to appear to threaten them in any way.

Thank you,

Kirel, Guilds, Cate, Kodama, Sydney, and Bahro

Recorded in: Nad's Journal,News Journal — Nadnerb @ 7:10 pm Cavern Time

Before the beginning of this episode, someone remarked that their socks had better be somewhere in Kansas by the end of this episode, story-wise. (or something to that effect) They’re doing a pretty good job so far, if you ask me. :D

Anyways, early this morning, Sharper appeared in the Watcher’s sanctuary, and was saying something when a dead materialized in front of him, followed immediately by two more bahro, who stood around for a while, and were repeatedly photographed by the surrounding horde. :D

At the same time, bahro started appearing in the city, and Ae’gura filled up for a while.

Later, after the Bahro had dispersed, Cate Alexander went to Kirel, opening it up for public access on her way in. I managed to get in that time, and got a log of the proceedings, during which she and Dr. Kodama, who was also present, refused to discuss the Bahro at all. Kirel, it seems, was opened primarily to outline the new guild system, which so far contains a ‘wish list’ for 5 guilds.

After this, Cate went off to some other neighborhood and was accosted by the formerly deceased Sydney Austin. To the great amusement of many, Sydney was told to: “please shut up”. Cate now has Sydney on her “ignore” list.

And of course, I might as well add the new KImail to this post:

The DRC has always been excited to return the Guilds to the Cavern, and today marks a special day in that effort. We are pround to annoucne the opening of Kirel: The Guild Neighborhood. Though it is a small step, it is a step in the right direction.

We invite you to visit the neighborhood, learn of the five Guilds represented, and evnision a future when all the Guilds are active once again and how you may choose to be a part of that.

Thank you,

Bahro City

Recorded in: Nad's Journal,News Journal — Nadnerb @ 12:52 pm Cavern Time

To start, a new KI mail has been sent out to all explorers:

A short time ago, two Bahro appeared in the Watcher’s Sanctuary with what appeared to be the Bahro that Douglas Sharper had killed during his reconnaissance trip to Noloben.

It is not clear what their intentions were, but, so far, no explorers have been harmed by these Bahro. Still, it is a matter of concern, as we do not want to provoke the Bahro and have anything as tragic as has recently happened repeated.

If you see on of these Bharo, please take great care to not startle them or appear to threaten them in any way. It may be best to keep your distance from them as much as you can.

This was news enough in itself, but it appears that I have finally been added to the relayer list, as the first words I heard when I logged in today were:

the bahro is still on top of the library, moving from side to side on the roof.

The city, of course, is full.

Edit: This was followed by the annoucement:

There are two bahro on top of the tokotah roof

That was the last I heard before crashing out attempting to reach the Watcher’s Sanctuary. :P

I then spent some time looking up the occurence in the forums, as it was evident that I was not going to get much in-game. Da Big Thread has some nice pictures and chatlogs, which we may mirror later.

Sardines in zreyasa’s Eder Kemo

Recorded in: Izy's Journal,News Journal — Isyldar @ 12:10 am Cavern Time

There were many good games, though I think they were all quick tonight. Sard didn’t even get much of a chance for gropes during the games I was around for.

Here’s a few pictures I took during tonight’s games:
