I managed to FINALLY arrive down in New Mexico yesterday to meet up with Zandi. Lucky for me he was waiting outside. I greeted him and he told me what I needed to do to get back down into the Cavern. I followed his instructions and found a Relto book waiting for me. I used it and linked to my new home.

Back inside the cavern, I was very excited to see all the explorers again. It doesn’t seem like the DRC has changed much since the Cavern re-opened. I’m guessing they’ve just added a few more neighborhoods to help with the tons of people coming into the Cavern. Basically everything there was before the closure of the cavern is still around. I’ve even heard of a bahro sighting recently.

Yesterday, my main focus was to do business in Gahreesen and Teledahn. After that I began to focus more on exploring the City. I got to visit Ae’Gura once more, never happier to see it again. I then headed to the Watcher’s Sanctuary, and linked into Er’Cana to start the vats up once more for Pellet baking. It might be a little more difficult now since I’ve forgot the recipe I used to use, but I’ll be testing things out.

So I think I’ll be headed down into the Cavern once more this afternoon. I’d like to finish what I started yesterday in Er’cana and maybe start exploring Kadish Tolesa or Eder Gira once more.

Oh yeah, I’ve decided on a new name. I’ve figured apostrophes simply make anything sound more D’ni :)

Returning to the Cavern!

Recorded in: Alex's Journal — Ah'lex @ 6:07 pm Cavern Time

Well, I was so excited to hear yesterday that the Cavern has been opened once again to explorers. As soon as I heard the news, I made preparations to leave to New Mexico. As I write this I’m starting to pack up. However, I also learned that the Cavern was closed out to most folks this morning because of a power issue the DRC had. I want to leave ASAP though, so hopefully within the hours it takes to get there, the Cavern’s Power will be back to normal.

I’m extremely excited for what’s to come. I really want to continue getting into becoming a Maintainer and start training in Gahreesen soon. Hopefully within the next few weeks, Guild activity will start back up as well.

And Finally, on my last thoughts before I finish my preparations to leave for the Cavern tonight, I want to think of  a new name for myself, preferably something partially taken from the D’ni language. I have a few ideas that I’ll go over on my way down to New Mexico, but I want to decide on a good one before heading into the Cavern.

So with that, Shorah! And I hope to see you guys all down there soon!

How much longer?

Recorded in: Alex's Journal — Ah'lex @ 9:53 pm Cavern Time

Shorah fellow explorers! First a small update on my personal life:

Well, the summer has passed us by pretty quick. I myself am starting my sophomore year in High School already, and at a brand new school too. A couple of months ago, my dad and I moved down from California’s central coast back to California’s central valley. It wasn’t easy at all adjusting to a new school, there were new friends I had to try and make, and new classes to learn to get to. But I’ve gotten the hang of it so far.

These past couple of days have re-kindled interest in me for the Cavern. Since every day in school I get about a 15 minute break after my first period class, I have time to do whatever I want. Since there’s not much to do during this break period, I decided to read the Miller Brothers’ The Book of Ti’ana again. This time around when reading, I got a better visualization of everything (before the fall) in my head than before. This made me want to know much much more about D’ni than I knew already, including their diet, religion, laws, kings, etc.

This past weekend I began to do a tad bit more of research on some of those things, even though my experiences in the Cavern before its closing taught me a lot about it’s history. I’ve even done research on D’ni language recently, hoping to give myself a better title people can know me by instead of “Macintosh”. It doesn’t at all feel to me as a legitimate last name for use in the Cavern.

Hopefully by the time the DRC decides to re-open the Cavern, i’ll have decided on a new title for myself. Once I have I’ll be sure to let whoever reads this know. I really am looking into making something original sounding, with various words I like and see fit from the D’ni Dictionary combined.

Also I’ve begun looking into some of the guilds, more specifically the Guild of Maintainers. As I looked up their website, I was sad to be reminded that the Grand Masters had gone on hiatus.  Unfortunately since I have no way of getting to the Cavern at the time, there’s no way for me to even practice on how I’d go about making sure ages are stable, even if the Grand Masters were no longer on hiatus. Besides that, the Guild of Writers seems to be on Hiatus as well. I don’t know of any ages that guildsmen have been writing since the Cavern has closed.

However, I did become familiar with one Guildsman’s works. I periodically check the website спалниUrublogs.com and I read one explorer’s journal/blog entries since I find them so interesting.

I think most other explorers are familar with Tweek and his organization D’ni Jazz Club, but I’m not exactly sure how many are familar with him and his age creations. He currently writes frequently on a blog titled “Beneath“. This has actually inspired me to learn more and more about D’ni’s history, and it’s been making me more and more anxious to get back into the Cavern and explore the Ages he’s written. I’m hoping to get to learn more about Tweek and his explorations in the Cavern in the coming weeks.

Well, I think that just about does it for this entry. It may be a while until my next post, but I will never stop thinking about the exciting day I can set foot back into D’ni!

I’m still patiently awaiting the re-opening of The Cavern. No one seems to have heard a word from any of the remaining DRC members, they’ve been gone for a while. As the wait continues, I’m simply relaxing in my home in California. I frequently check out websites to see if there’s any news regarding the Cavern’s opening, yet I just see mostly old news. I also have no way of going to the cavern alone, no linking books, no transportation to New Mexico, nothing. I lost my Relto book I believe the last few weeks of the Cavern’s public opening. There’s of course, plenty of others with access to the Cavern still via Relto, I must find a way to go back though.

But I know we’ll be back soon, it’s just a matter of when exactly.

I’m still waiting.

OOC: New URU Site

Recorded in: Alex's Journal — Ah'lex @ 8:54 pm Cavern Time

So I’m extremely excited that URU is going back up and especially excited that Cyan is basically giving us, the fans, the keys to its precious MMORPG. I don’t think anything to rowdy or insane will happen when the fans take control and write more code to the open-source Cyan is giving us. URU Live has a great fanbase of respectable and fun players, so as far as i’m concerned, I don’t see any jerks any time in the future trying to completely ruin the experience. Now with that outta the way, I recently noticed today that Cyan has updated their URU site largely and added a “Play” tab to the top of the site. Of course it only leads to a page with a release date on it, but still, I can’t wait until Spring of this year!

Nightmares of the Fall…

Recorded in: Alex's Journal — Ah'lex @ 10:29 pm Cavern Time

I had a very peculiar nightmare last night. It was truly frightening and here’s how it went

The day started off dark and mysterious. I was in class as usual but the day was dark and cloudy outside, which seems normal if you live on the Pacific Coast like I do. All of a sudden, a City-Wide alarm went off. Everyone was scared and ran outside the classrooms. A  Fog was headed this way, a light coloured fog that seemed poisinous. Everyone panicked and ran, while the police tried to have everyone remain calm and evacuate the city as quickly as possible. I was able to run home, hopefully to safety. I turned on the TV and a report went on about a disease or virus that was airbourne in a cloud like the one I had saw. I was frightened to death. My dad entered the house and I asked “What are we going to do?”. He replied saying “I don’t know.” I then thought of one thing in this dream gone wrong, D’ni. I suddenly linked without a book to a platform. It was a narrow, brown, stone bridge that seemed of D’ni style. It was sitting out as if floating on nothing and dark was surrounding it except for the bright colours in the middle of the platform which had a firemarble-like glow to it. Strange pillars were on both sides of the middle platform which lead to a linking pedestal. I walked to it and Linked.

It reminded me as I woke up of the Fall of D’ni. How Veovis poisoined all his people with the help of Ae’Gaeris and destroyed the D’ni Civilization. Everyone was panicked and did not know what to do, and many people had died. This dream has seriously frightened me and I guess I could say I know how frightened the D’ni were to a random terrorist attack like that. I truly hope nothing like this occurs up on the surface, with all the dangerous biochemicals and such, like Anthrax for example.

I can’t imagine how traumatizing this would have been had it been real though…

Our time is creeping closer…

Recorded in: Alex's Journal — Ah'lex @ 10:23 pm Cavern Time

Well the first day of fall is officially tomorrow, Monday September 21st. Still not much news on when the DRC is going to allow us back into the cavern. I feel like i’m being pulled to head to New Mexico, but now’s obviously not the time. Well I guess the “new” D’ni political system will be up and running immediately once the DRC green-lights everything. I can’t honestly wait to test out all the new ages the Guild of Writers have been working on. I’m hoping that with the guild system being back up along with the cavern, the DRC will have the Gahreesen Wall open to train Maintainers. Of course, the DRC isn’t going to be running tests or finishing tests on areas in Ae’Gura as soon as the cavern re-opens again, which means that we’ll just have to enjoy the new ages that have been written and experience the true nature of community work to re-create and help restore what was a lost society long ago. Once again, can’t stress how excited I will be to return to the great Cavern and explore once again!

Possible cavern return!

Recorded in: Alex's Journal — Ah'lex @ 11:51 pm Cavern Time

I’m going to try and save up enough money these next few weeks and see if I can get enough to get myself back to the Cavern. Just being back at the cleft would be amazing. I’d also like to begin practicing in Gahreesen on The Wall if I do get to go back soon. I need to be ready to maintain all the new ages the modern day Guild of Writers shall be bringing us once the DRC returns sometime this fall or winter.  Hopefully it will be much more quicker than anticipated. Maybe this month?
